With the holidays approaching, it’s time to think about gifts for the photographer on your list. If you’re new to the world of photography, you might not know what to get. The world of photography is complicated, and, depending on a photographer’s skill level, the equipment they need is varied and arcane. However, every photographer can use a good point-and-shoot camera, and Canon’s PowerShot S95 is just that.

Although, the camera cannot match the Canon EOS Rebel T3i (check Canon EOS Rebel T3i review), the PowerShot S95 is an ultra-slim digital camera, packed with professional-quality features. First off, it’s got a f/2.0 Wide-Angle Lens, and a professional-style control ring.

This can help you receive Precisely the picture you would like.. It enables more light in to the camera, so that you can use faster shutter speeds and capture motion in a dead stop. The lens also offers 3.8x optical zoom, so that you can focus on distant or elusive subjects.

This camera also features Canon’s acclaimed optical Image Stabilizer (IS). The IS counteracts camera shake, reducing blur and enabling users to capture shots in darker conditions. Using IS, you can shoot at a shutter speed approximately 4-stops slower than would otherwise be necessary to achieve a blur-free shot.

Additionally, it prevents unhealthy results of blur, trembling, and closeness from ruining your pictures. The Monitoring AF mode offers a chance to choose objects in the center from the frame and track them when they move, or maybe the frame is recomposed.

The PowerShot’s Lens Control Ring allows you adjust configurations, like the ISO (in 1/3 stop batches), shutter speed, aperture, focus and exposure compensation. It is also got a custom setting, that allows you pre-set the purpose of both lens Control Ring and also the rear Multi-Control Dial in a variety of shooting modes. Combined with shortcut button, the PowerShot provides you with quick access to configurations throughout shooting.

Finally, the camera features 720p HD 24fps movie recording, with stereo sound. With Miniature Effect, you can shoot films at a slower frame rate, to imitate a stop-motion movie.. This camera is HDTV and HDMI compatible, and comes with its won remote control.

This camera has a large complement of features, in a user-friendly case. It’s the perfect pocket camera for photographers of every skill level, and, with its small size, it makes a great stocking stuffer for any photographer on your wish list.
